I will put all of my ideas for my magazine cover in this post, including the masthead, cover lines, and possible layouts/images. I will also reflect on my decisions as they evolve.
Possible Names
- Waterlogged: Why the school pitch is always full of puddles
- In a Relationship: Find out which teachers are having a secret affair
- Exclusive interview with Mr Evan
- Handphone Menace: Why are students addicted
- Built for Success: A sneak peak at the new Preschool building design
- Bottom 1%: Find out which students are lagging in lesson
- Buffering: The secret conspiracy to slow down students' internet
I like the idea of having a story about handphone use as my main cover line, with a main image to go with it. I will experiment with some other titles:
- Addicted: Why 90% of students can't stay away from their handphones
- Banned! The new school policy shake up
- Why so addictive?
- Is this you?
I like the "Addicted" headline, I think this emotive word will grab attention. I will put the "addictive" in a larger, bolder font (maybe even a different colour.) This will make it stand out and draw viewers in, then the rest of the cover line will explain the title. This is an issue that I think my audience (High school students) will find very interesting as it relates to them. They may want to read this magazine for surveillance (Uses & Gratification), maybe they think it will give advice and tips on how to reduce screen time.
